Current Assets: 2011 Final Budget
The District will support three grant categories in 2011: Contractual Assets - organizations selected in 1994 for 10-year funding commitmnets that were reauthorized for five additional years in 2005 and in 2010; Annual Assets - organizations that apply for support on an annual basis; Multi-Year Assets - grants with commitments for more than one year of commitments beyond the contractual asset period. In 2009, the District created the first Connection Grants to foster collaborative efforts among assets that will lower overhead costs. The first grants were funded in 2010.
The hallmark of District grants is unrestricted operating funds. RAD operating grants to assets can be used for all of the basics, like staff, utilities and maintenance. Since 1995, RAD has provided more than $1.2 billion in operating and capital grants to more than 100 diverse organizations (click here for the funding history, to date). That sum includes $61.2 million in capital grants for projects like accessibility, critical infrastructure and equipment. RAD funds also have made possible special collaborations among assets that have contributed to budget savings and audience development.
