August Wilson House celebrates America’s greatest playwright with a new web series of substantial insider interviews called “Actors Talk August,” streaming on the first and third Monday of each month.
January 18 features Stephen McKinley Henderson, hosted by Chris Rawson.
Chris Rawson is a veteran Pittsburgh Post-Gazette theater critic who chronicled Wilson’s career and came to know him well. The aim of this series is to capture the memories, anecdotes and insights of those who know Wilson’s epic American Century Cycle from the inside and helped to bring it to life.
Stephen McKinley Henderson is perhaps best known for playing Bono opposite Denzel Washington’s Troy in the Fences movie. Stephen is a leading Wilsonian Soldier with three roles on Broadway, three more off-Broadway and four more regional theater roles. He's won Best Actor Obie and a wealth of TV and film credits including Lincoln’s valet in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln. His depth as a teacher shows in his recurring commentary in the new Netflix documentary, Giving Voice, about the August Wilson Monologue Competition.
