Who We Fund

The RAD funding program is diverse and has funded more than 160 different assets located throughout the County.  Demographic reports show that users of regional assets come from all over the County and region.

Since 1995, the District has awarded nearly $1.9 billion in grants, including $60 million in capital grants for projects like accessibility, critical infrastructure and equipment.

Libraries are RAD's largest grant category at 31%.  The District funds 45 independent libraries (some with branches) throughout the county through the Allegheny County Library Association, plus the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh with its 18 branches.

Parks/Trails/Conservation is RAD’s second largest single category, representing 29% of RAD funds through 2019.

To date, Transit represents less than 1% of RAD allocations, historically.
