Join artist Cheryl Capezzuti for a community puppet-making workshop on Shore Thing, where participants will create approximately ten backpack-style puppets inspired by river creatures and other things that live in and around Pittsburgh’s waterways. These puppets will become part of the collection available for participants to wear during the River Revel at Riverlife’s annual Last Splash event on October 10th. River Revel at Last Splash is a participatory celebration of Pittsburgh’s rivers through puppetry, pageantry, music, making, and collective play. Developed by Cheryl and Shiftworks Community + Public Arts in collaboration with Riverlife, River Revel will culminate on Saturday, October 10, 2026, as part of Riverlife’s annual Last Splash event at Shore Thing, where attendees will have the opportunity to create and try-on puppets and to join the Great River Creature Parade. This workshop is open to all ages.

Step-free access to Shore Thing is available via the Northside Public Fishing Dock at Allegheny Landing. For more information about accessibility on the riverfronts, please contact Riverlife’s Accessibility Coordinator, Maria Riley, at maria@riverlifepgh.org or 412-258-6636, ext. 107.
