Riverlife welcomes The Citizen Science Lab to Shore Thing this summer, with free activities for young students. Are you ready to dive into the enormous world of Ocean Life? Oceans cover 71% of the Earth’s surface and face many hazards. Broadly, this course can be described as follows: Students will gain an understanding of oceans and the hazards marine life faces. This educational program will explore the theme of Environmental Science and, more specifically, focus on Oceans. The exact number of experiments will vary depending on the student’s needs, abilities, and behavior, but we strive for 2-3 unique experiments under that category for a 60-minute program. The Citizen Science Lab brings hands-on STEM to Pittsburgh (and beyond!), building real pipelines that take youth from curiosity to career.
Step-free access to Shore Thing is available via the Northside Public Fishing Dock at Allegheny Landing. For more information about accessibility on the riverfronts, please contact Riverlife’s Accessibility Coordinator, Maria Riley, at maria@riverlifepgh.org or 412-258-6636, ext. 107.
