Celebrate the joy of active learning with us during this exciting global event! Bring your kids, or just your inner child for a fun-filled day featuring: Kamin Science Center: Energy Stack Challenge 12-4pm Use a giant Jenga tower to simulate our energy grid. Be careful balancing the grid – if it falls, you will cause a blackout! Mad Science: Watts-Up! This is the moment to discover the world of static electricity! Kids see sparks fly from an electrostatic machine—the Van de Graaff generator. They learn the basic properties of an electric charge, and find ways to distinguish between static electricity and electrical current. They learn to generate static to test the movement of electrons on everyday objects. The Citizen Science Lab: Colorful Chemistry 3-4pm It’s a rule as old as time: Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. So where does that energy go? This program will demonstrate to students that energy has to go somewhere – not be lost forever. What object can act like a solid and a liquid at the same time? – Presented by Covestro. Hop x Hustle: Nostalgia Playground Experience 2-4pm An interactive kids and family area featuring jump rope, creative hopscotch paths, and guided mini challenges. Facilitator – Brandey Smith will guide rhythm-based jump rope moments and group participation to bring the crowd together. In collaboration with Nickelodeon and the Association of Children’s Museums.
